Honoring a Life Well-Lived: The Fletcher Foundation & Emily’s Run

July charity partner -pub

Some causes are about a mission. Others are about a person. The Fletcher Foundation and Emily’s Run are about both — a life remembered, and a community that keeps her spirit moving forward.

The Fletcher Foundation was established in memoriam of Lyn and Emily Fletcher, with a mission to promote Education, Health Awareness, and Conservation in Maine communities. Through partnerships with local organizations, annual scholarships to high school seniors, and targeted financial contributions, the Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact across the region.

Emily Fletcher grew up in Auburn, Maine, attending Edward Little High School, where she was an active community member and standout cross-country and track athlete. Emily’s life was taken in a car accident at age 21 while returning home from the University of Vermont for the holidays. Her loss left a profound mark on the Auburn community and inspired those who loved her to carry her spirit forward.

In her memory, Emily’s Run was established in 2005 to celebrate her life and raise funds for the Foundation’s causes. What began as a small, heartfelt gathering has grown into a thriving annual event, now proudly part of The Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K series — a community initiative dedicated to promoting healthy living and local connection.

The race takes place each July, starting and finishing at Edward Little High School — the place where Emily’s passion for running first took root. Year after year, participants of all ages and abilities come together not just to run, but to honor a life well-lived and support causes that continue to matter.

Raise a Stowaway for a Good Cause

This July, Baxter is proud to stand behind The Fletcher Foundation and Emily’s Run as our philanthropic partner of the month. All month long, one dollar from every Stowaway sold at the pub goes directly to the Foundation and the causes Emily cared about — education, health awareness, and conservation right here in Maine. Stop in, raise a Stowaway, and help us carry her spirit forward.
