Made for Maine Fall: Introducing Apple Ale

Fall in Maine has a way of announcing itself: cooler mornings, orchard weekends, changing leaves—and now, a new beer built for the season.

This week, Baxter Brewing is releasing Apple Ale, a crisp, refreshing seasonal beer designed to let the apple shine without becoming overly sweet. The idea started with a simple question: could Baxter bring a craft approach to a flavor drinkers already know while making it distinctly our own?

“The aim was to design the beer so the apple would shine and give people a craft approach to what has traditionally been a domestically made product,” said Merritt Waldron, Director of Quality and Operations. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate a local fruit for New England.”

Director of Sales Shaun Collins believes, “It’s crisp, refreshing, not overly sweet, and has a really nice finish. I think we landed on something really special.”

Apple Ale also represents how Baxter wants to keep evolving: noticing what drinkers want, deciding where an idea belongs in our portfolio, and challenging the team to execute at the quality we expect.

“I’m proud of a team that can recognize an opportunity, evaluate it thoughtfully, and turn an idea into a product we’re excited to put our name on,” said Baxter President Jenn Lever. “It celebrates our favorite season and gives drinkers another reason to choose local.”

As Social Media and Events Coordinator Ari Sapuan put it, “It captures the feeling of fall in Maine.”
