Skowhegan State Fairgrounds
Skijor Skowhegan: Northeast Equestrian Skijoring Regionals is Maine’s first and one of two equestrain skijoring competitions in New England. In this team time-trial race, a horse and rider pull a snowboarder or alpine skier down a 1,000-foot track of gates and jumps. Competitors compete for cash prizes, swag, and bragging rights!
Gates: 10 a.m.
Opening ceremony: 10:45 a.m.
First race: 11 a.m.
The Grandstands where spectators can sit are aluminum, we recommend you bring something to sit on to be more comfortable. This is Maine in the dead of winter, so dress warmly! We’ve had events with beautiful 50-degree days, and we’ve had freezing temps and snow. Plus, it can all change from morning to afternoon.
$20 for parking
Dogs must be on a leash at all times–no exceptions
Please do not enter the competitor parking area unless you are with a competitor–this is for everyone’s safety
Drones are strictly prohibited
The beer garden, presented by Baxter Brewing Co., is open from 11 a.m. to the conclusion of the final award ceremony
There will be Skijor Skowhegan and Somerset SnowFest merch available for purchase
