In the spring of 2018, the Baxter team turned several dreams into reality. We launched our first 16 oz stickered can by making a beer for a cause that we loved: the MHT IPL that financially supports the operation and maintenance of the Maine Huts & Trails system in Carrabassett Valley. It’s hard to say which was the more satisfying experience between cutting the first check or cracking the first can at the Hut, but it’s something we knew we wanted to do again. We saw an opportunity to use our brewery as a platform to financially support and give exposure to non-profits that are doing amazing things in our state.
Starting now through 2020, we are excited to introduce a philanthropic beer series that builds off of this concept. It gathers some of our projects and partners close to our hearts and focuses it into a portfolio of new limited releases. We’re kicking it off with the Travis Mills Foundation and the 100% Maine grown fresh hop blonde ale, Limb-It-Less. If you haven’t heard about either one of these projects please check out this link (Click Here). We’re going to follow that up with Sea to Summit, a Wild Blueberry and Spruce Tip Lager to support the marathon series of the same name. As the beer sponsors of these iconic races, we have the honor of celebrating the iconic landscapes of MDI and Katahdin while facilitating spending in Millinocket businesses.
These beers, and the exciting collaborations to follow will be all about using interesting Maine grown ingredients in creative beers that highlight the compelling work of our heroes. Charitable beer projects have always been part of our DNA, we’re just upping the ante on our financial commitments, raising the profile and adding more ways that you can get your hands on these gems. Because when you can lift up a great cause while you’re picking up a 4 pack, that’s great beer doing great things.
